Ketosis is a metabolic state where your body uses fat instead of carbohydrates for energy. When you are in a ketotic state, your brain produces less glucose and other nutrients such as vitamins A, D, E and K are used up faster than they can be replenished. This results in the appearance of white spots or “ketones” in your urine. These ketone bodies have been shown to lower blood sugar levels, improve mood, increase alertness and even protect against cancer.
This is the most common cause of darkening of the skin in the underarm area. As you may know, when a person perspires, the sweat usually has a white color to it. When you use antiperspirant, the ingredients usually either block the sweat from coming out or reduce the amount that comes out.
On the other hand, when some people use deodorant, they usually just mask the smell of the bacteria that are already there.
You can use lemon or vinegar to whiten your underarms. Apply lemons and cover with a bandaid overnight. Repeat until pale yellow color is achieved.
You can also mix equal amounts of lemon and water and pour it in a spray bottle and spray your armpits. Let it air dry. Do this once a day.
The sun is the main reason for skin aging. It produces free radicals that break down skin tissue and cause wrinkles. You may already be familiar with anti-aging creams that have retinol or vitamin A in them.
This helps by increasing cell turnover, which gives your skin a fresher, younger look.
The most common cause of dark underarms is the use of antiperspirant. The active ingredients in most antiperspirants is aluminium chloride, which is extremely irritating to the skin. It causes an inflammatory reaction which is what reduces sweat.
Over a period of time, continuous use can irritate skin to the point where pigmentation occurs.
